Appalachian Trail, where did you go? Bob and I still haven't gotten out to hike it. Maybe soon, if not in the Spring?

Fair Weather Hiking

If you plan a day hike and wake up to rain and misery, do you still go or reschedule?

Practice Hikes

I think I want to do a couple practice hikes on the trail before we actually do it over a weekend. Am I a wimp?

Good Boots

I guess on this upcoming hike, I'll want to wear good ankle supporting boots? With the trail notoriously being rocky this makes good sense.

Appalachian Trail

My buddy Bob and I are planning a weekend hike along a section of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. We're looking forward to a Spring time hike rather than now when it's too cool or in the Summer during oppressive heat times.

I saw a package at the local bookstore published by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and figured I'd pick it up next time I went; too late someone beat me to it.

I did a hike there years ago with colleagues from work and was poorly prepared with an overloaded pack among other things. I'm planning on taking almost nothing except food, a small pack, water, and some kind of small tent. If I can keep everything under 10-15 pounds I think that is a good goal.
